DeKalb parades in Dunwoody with good participation and great crowd
response!
"Dunwoody Salutes
America -- Freedom for All" Parade on July 4th
Dunwoody, GA (July 4th, 2003) -
For the second year in a row, the DeKalb chapter
of the Libertarian Party of Georgia participated in the Dunwoody 4th
of July Parade. Sponsored by the Dunwoody Homeowners Association and
the Dunwoody Crier newspaper, the parade boasts they had 2000
participants and over 15,000 spectators in 2002.
A dozen plus
Libertarians walked or rode the 2.5 mile route handing out liberty
fans and Libertarian Viewpoints to the large crowds. As always our
Lady Liberty, riding this time in the back of a pickup, was our star
and crowd favorite. Again we had a great time outreaching to the voting
public and the kids too. All of you that joined with us are greatly
appreciated. We showed thousands in Dunwoody that this truely is a
libertarian holiday.
Learning
Guerilla Activism at the May LP DeKalb Meeting
Tucker, GA (May 28th, 2003) -
Speaker:
Philip Bradley,
Chair of the LP of Clayton County and member of the very active Southern
Crescent Team. A gifted speaker, Philip spoke on the topic of "Guerilla
Activism."
LP
DeKalb Hosts OPH Booth at Annual Tucker Day Celebration
Tucker, GA (May
10th, 2003) - For the second year in a row the LPDC joined other
local merchants and civic organizations renting booth space at the
annual Tucker Day Celebration in downtown Tucker. Our Operation Political
Homeless booth is a community outreach activity to market the local
Libertarian Party to the public face to face and finding new Libertarians.
This results in the collection of contact information for "closet"
libertarians that don't yet realize they are in fact libertarian thinkers
or others that had not yet been invited to join the party. The center
piece of the OPH booth is the World's Smallest Political Quiz as designed
by the Advocates of Self-Government. [Picture - LPDC officers

21st
annual Tax Day protest creates great media coverage
Decatur, GA (April 15th, 2003) - The 21st annual LP protest
of the leviathan government income tax at the Decatur Post Office
created 5pm news coverage on both WSB ABC channel 2 and CBS channel
46 along with a front
page story on the DeKalb Neighbor weekly county newspaper. New
LPDC Chair Brian Fenton was featured in an interview about why we
protest on channel 46. The Channel 46 news story also showed great
pictures of our protesters along with good close-ups of our signs
and LP DeKalb T-shirt logos. Former LPDC Chair Tom Freese was interviewed
in the channel 2 news story. In addition, this led to Freese being
interviewed the very next day on the channel 46 5pm newscast to give
the local Libertarian response to the Bush economic stimulus plan.
All combined the television broadcasts alone may have reached over
an estimated 500,000 viewers in Georgia, surpassing last year's 300,000.
All of this coverage occurred in spite of our smallest number of protest
participants in years. A special thanks to those freedom fighters
that made time to come out and show their commitment to liberty.
